Evangeline Lilly is an actress who is best known for playing Kate Austen in Lost. Prior to Lost, she had a few (uncredited) bit parts in Smallville. Her big screen credits include The Hurt Locker, Afterwords, and Real Steel. She can be seen playing the elf Tauriel in the upcoming 2nd and 3rd Hobbit movies The Desolation of Smaug and There And Back Again.

Evangeline obtained a degree in international relations from the University of British Columbia. She is a tomboy and very religious. She taught Sunday School for eight years and did missionary work in Rwanda and was planning on becoming a full-time missionary in the Phillippines after taking a missions a trip there prior to finding success as an actress. During Lost, she fell in love with Hawaii and has made it her permanent home.
